Eligibility and Selection:
Candidates with Master's Degree or equivalent in any branch of science (Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy) or in chemical/biochemical engineering who have qualified to be eligible to receive a doctoral junior research fellowship (JRF) after passing any of the following examinations are eligible to be interviewed: CSIR/UGC NET, DBT JRF examination (A Category), or ICMR JRF examination. Those who come for interview must be prepared to be present in Chandigarh for three days, which is the approximate time required to finalize the admission of successful candidates. No TA/DA or any other expenses will be paid for appearing in the interview. Only those candidates will be allowed to appear in the interview who produce a valid proof of having passed the qualifying masters’ level examination (e.g., may be a letter from the relevant Head of Department). Candidates must also state their present occupation, if any, before the interview; any concealment may result in cancellation of admission at any stage. Age limit: 28 years (age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST and OBC candidates as per Govt. of India rules). Application Procedure:
1. Application should be submitted through the Principal / Head of the Institute to the Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi 110029, by 16h February, 2009. Applications received after this date will not be considered.
2. Each college may submit upto a maximum of 25 applications each year.
3. The application form is available on ICMR website and can be downloaded. Applications must be prepared and submitted as per the new application format. Submission made using the applications forms of previous years will not be considered.
4. Any permanent faculty working in any of the Department of the Medical college where the student is enrolled, can act as the guide. Not more than one student will be allowed to work under one guide. Proposals submitted on the same topic by different students are liable to be rejected outright.



5. In case more than one application is submitted by a student / Guide, they will all be automatically rejected.
6. The application must include a brief work plan of proposed research giving a short introduction, objectives, materials and also clearly stating the sample size and appropriate statistical methodology, which will be used along with implications of the research study.
7. The guide should indicate the nature of the ongoing research program with which the student will be associated. The research techniques and methodology providing an opportunity to the student to familiarize with may also be indicated and described briefly. The Guide should ensure that she/he selects a suitable brief topic for this studentship, which can be completed within 2 months without asking for extension.
8. If the proposed study is part of ongoing research / or extension of completed research of the guide/any other Ph.D/M.D student furthers details may be provided on what work has been done and also on what specific work will be done as part of studentship.
9. Please note that this program is only for undergraduate medical students and therefore, any applications received from students doing their internship would not be considered. Students of paramedical courses may not apply.

Scientific Programmer/Programmer : (2 posts)
(Consolidated Salary Rs. 12000/- p.m.)
EQ: B.E./B.Tech./MCA/M.Sc. Apart from good programming skills, the candidates should have expertise in some of the following areas: Network maintenance and administration, Experience in LINUX and WINDOWS, In- House LAN maintenance, Servers & PCs maintenance and administration.

These positions are completely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year but may be extended based on performance. CCBB, JNU may select candidates against the post depending upon qualification and experience of candidates and reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified by the Selection Committee.

3 Duties Attached to the Post:
i) Matters relating to R&D programmes of agriculture, medical, environmental, industrial processes and animal biotechnology.
ii) Matters relating to product validation and toxicology.
iii) Matters relating to regulatory and bio safety assessment of biotech products, revision and updating of protocols and Standard Operating Procedures, appraisal of proposals for Foreign Direct Investment, Foreign Technology Agreements, Input / Output norms, Industrial Entrepreneur Memoranda and Industrial Licensing.
iv) Matters relating to idea generation meetings, brainstorming meetings for generation of projects, evaluation and appraisal of proposals through the expert committees and task forces in interdisciplinary areas of biotechnology, implementation and monitoring of biotechnology projects, identification of commercially potential products and processes in R&D projects
v) Examination and appraisal of IPR issues, managing patent facilitation cell, implementation of innovative research through public-private partnerships with SMEs and large industries, technology management including technology scouting, negotiation with industry, technology assessment and forecasting
vi) Matters relating to development, coordination and management of autonomous institutions, centers of excellence, International Depository Authority, preparation of techno-economic feasibility reports, budgetary and managerial issues of institutions and centers
