Qualifications:
1. JRFs: M. Sc. I Class in Botany or Biotechnology with Botany as the main subject at graduate level. M. Sc. Computer Science/MCA.
Desirable: Good physique to undertake fieldwork at difficult terrains of Western Ghats; work in tribal areas; knowledge of molecular biology techniques, computer literacy, familiarity with wild Musa, orchids, etc.

Description of Work: The JRF is required to do high resolution mapping of Gir PA and its surrounding landscape for developing habitat suitability models for wildlife species.
Project # 5: Research Laboratory.
Position: (01 – RA)
Duration: Initially for a period of one year.
Essential Qualification: Ph.D degree in Zoology / Wildlife Sciences Environmental Sciences / Forestry / Experimental Biology / Biological Sciences and / or Life Sciences from a recognized University. Those who have published their work in peer reviewed journals and shown evidence of capability to do independent research work will have a preference.
Desirable Qualification: (1) Adequate experience from any reputed laboratory in using advance analytical techniques for plant, animal, soil and water samples.
(2) Experience in handling and maintenance of various laboratory analytical equipments (AAS, HPLC, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer etc.) and operational knowledge of various computer software(s).
Description of Work: The work involves field visits and laboratory analysis for plant, animal, soil and water samples and also teaching advanced analytical techniques.

GENERAL:

  • Candidate for the position of Research Associate (RA-I) should be below 40 years of age as on 1st June 2009 and the upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST. The prescribed application form along with details of qualifications, specialisations etc. may be obtained from the office of the undersigned in person during office hours or by post on written request accompanied with a self-addressed and stamped (Rs. 10/-) envelope of size 11 cm x 25 cm. or can also be downloaded from the Tezpur University website www.tezu.ernet.in.

Completed application (one copy) in the prescribed form along with necessary enclosures (one set) is to reach "The Registrar, Tezpur University, Napaam-784 028" on or before 01 June, 2009. The envelope containing the application should be superscribed "Application for the post of (name of the post)". A non-refundable application fee of Rs. 300/- (Exempted for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in the form of Demand Draft only drawn on any nationalised bank in favour of The Registrar, Tezpur University, payable at Tezpur, must be submitted along with the application. The Demand Draft should not be drawn before the date of issue of this advertisement and should remain valid at least for six months. Candidates must write their names and the post applied for on the reverse of the Bank Draft.
Candidates willing to apply for two or more posts must submit separate application and fee, if any, for each post.

It is to be noted that mere fulfilment of eligibility criteria shall not entitle a person for consideration. The decision of the Screening Committee appointed for the purpose of short-listing candidates from amongst the applications received, will be final and binding. The University reserves the right to fill up or not to fill up any of the vacancies or to increase the number of posts, as required.

Application(s) received after the last date (due to postal delay or any other reasons thereof) or incomplete in any form or without the application fee, shall be summarily rejected. Those in employment must apply through proper channel or submit �No Objection Certificate� from the concerned employer. However, they may send a copy of the same as ADVANCE COPY to be followed by the original through proper channel.
