Applications are invited from Indian nationals who have qualified CSIR-UGCDBT-NET JRF or ICMR-JRF
Project Concept:
:Rapid industrialization, urbanization and population growth in the developing world hasincreased morbidity and mortality due water and food-borne pathogens. It is now understoodthat the genome repertoire of pathogens undergoes subtle fine-tuning by dissemination ofanti-microbial agent resistance genes as well as environmental factors. This demands newstrategies for pathogen detection since classical techniques are labor intensive, timeconsuming and not always reliable. We are exploring development of real-time PCR probes,Gold Nano-Particle Probes, PCR arrays and Biochips for detection of virulence genes ofpathogenic microbes in water and food.
Positions: 2 (Two)
Job Description:
To develop oligonucleotide based biochips as diagnostic tool fordetection of pathogens and genetic diseases.
Qualifications:
Essential: Ist class M.Sc. Organic Chemistry / Biochemistry
Desirable: Familiarity with:1. Spectroscopic techniques and HPLC etc.OR2. Molecular biology techniques including real-time PCR andBioinformatic tools.
